Who May Submit
A Request
Under the Act, members of the public, including foreign
citizens, military and civilian personnel acting as private
citizens, organizations and businesses, and individual members
of the Congress, for themselves or constituents, may request
records.
Time Limits
You can expect a response to your request within 20 workdays
from the date of receipt. If for some reason we cannot respond
within the 20 workdays we will inform you of the reason
for the delay and provide an estimated completion date.
How to Submit
a Request
A request for any records must be in writing (Sample
Letter). Verbal requests are not accepted. Requests
should indicate that it is being made under the Freedom
of Information Act (FOIA). Request can be e-mailed, faxed,
or mailed.

Fees
By law, an agency is entitled to charge certain fees, which
depend on the category of requester you fall into.
Categories:
- Commercial. Requesters
pay all search, review, and duplication.
- Educational or Noncommerical Scientific
Institution or News Media. Requesters get the first
100 copies free and pay for additional copies. They do
not pay search or review charges.
- Others. Requesters get the
first 2 hours of search and the first 100 copies free.
They do not pay review charges.
