Management Trainees

Non-Appropriated Fund Management Trainee Program
Civilian Career Development Program of the U. S. Air Force
 
The purpose of the Non-Appropriated Fund (NAF) Management Trainee Program is to develop individuals who can deal effectively and ethically with change, complexity, and problem solving. The program provides an environment for growth, both personal and professional. These are entry-level civilian positions, which support the Air Force military community.

Selectees will be expected to report for duty before:

PROGRESSION SUMMARY:
Entry level for all NAF positions is NF-III. Promotion to NF-IV after successful completion of Phase I Training.

Qualification Requirements:
 

Please read carefully the qualification requirements below.

GRADE POINT:
Applicants must complete a 4 or 4 1/2 year course of study leading to a bachelor's degree by 30 June 2007 from an accredited institution. To be rated eligible at the time you submit your application, you must have a minimum 2.95 grade point average (GPA) on a 4.0 scale your last two years (last 60 hours of 300 and 400 level courses) in the undergraduate degree (see NOTE below) as documented on a college transcript (official or unofficial).

INTERNAL NAF APPLICANTS ONLY:

  • ASSOCIATES DEGREE,
  • MINIMUM 2 YEARS SPECIALIZED EXPERIENCE,
  • PCS REQUIRED

Letters from satellite campuses must compare you to the entire graduating class or major subdivision of the university (not the satellite campus).

NOTE:
An overall (or cumulative) undergraduate GPA must include credit hours/quality points earned at institutions previously attended, if they count(ed) toward meeting your undergraduate degree requirements. Transcripts must be provided for all schools attended.

If you have not yet graduated, you may be offered a position contingent upon your final grade point average or class ranking.

VETERANS PREFERENCE DOES NOT APPLY TO THE NAF MANAGEMENT TRAINEE PROGRAM.

 

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

U.S. CITIZENSHIP IS REQUIRED

If selected for a position an official birth certificate, passport or Certificate of Naturalization will be required to verify citizenship the day you report for duty. Mobility is a key to development in this program. If you accept an offer, you will be required to sign a statement agreeing to certain conditions of employment with regard to mobility, training completion, and ability to obtain a security clearance, when needed. You will be required to provide detailed information pertaining to any criminal offenses, convictions, federal debt delinquencies, employment terminations, etc., prior to being hired.

All males born after December 31, 1959 must register with the Selective Service System (SSS) to be employed (subject to certain exemptions) by the Federal government. A "Certificate of Registration Status" will indicate that you are either registered or not required to be.
