Team Selection Process |
Selections for the All Air Force Sports Teams are made approximately
30 days prior to the first day of the respective trial camp.
The selection message will be disseminated to the MAJCOM sports
offices, then base fitness center, squadron commanders and
finally the selected individuals. Those selected are placed
on permissive temporary duty (PTDY) to attend the training/trial
camps and any other competitions (i.e. Armed Forces, national
and international championships). lodging and a personal maintenance
allowance during the above mentioned events. Athletes
are expected to arrive in top physical condition, as camps
are short in duration and physically demanding.
Armed Forces Championships include Air Force, Army, Navy and
Marine Corps teams. Combined service all-star teams are often
chosen at Armed Forces Championships to represent the United
States Armed Forces at national and international military
championships organized by the Counseil International du Sport
Militaire (CISM), consisting of 122 member nations. Other
international military events include Supreme Headquarters
Allied Powers Europe (SHAPE) men’s basketball and AIRNORTH
(Air Force competitions in Europe involving Germany, Belgium,
United Kingdom, Poland, Denmark, and the Netherlands) track
& field, swimming, volleyball and cross country. |
